People Facing an Uncertain Future
Serious humanitarian crises continue across the world. Conflicts, disasters, and structural poverty have forced millions of people from their homes and stripped them of their sense of normalcy, leaving them struggling to survive in fear and uncertainty.
For example, 28.3 million people in Afghanistan, 23.1 million in Yemen, and 17.6 million in Myanmar are currently facing severe humanitarian crises. Globally, approximately 340 million people need humanitarian assistance after losing their homes, livelihoods, and normal way of life.*

Toward a World Where Everyone’s Dignity Is Protected and Everyone Can Live with Self-Reliance
To respond to those calling for help, no matter how remote or challenging the location, we mobilize our network across roughly 120 countries and strive to go wherever we are needed.
We do more than deliver emergency food and supplies—we stay with people until they regain safety, stability, and dignity in their lives.
Just like a caring friend, we remain close to each person’s heart.

【From the Frontlines of Relief】After Losing Everything, ADRA Gave Me a Warm Home on a Freezing Night

Alla’s home near Kyiv was burned down in an airstrike. She endured freezing winter temperatures and power outages. With only a small pension and allowance, she could not afford to repair her home.
When ADRA provided financial support for housing reconstruction, she said with relief:
“Kindness from around the world gives me the strength to live on.”
【Restoring Hope to a Family】A Mother Forced From Home to Protect Her Child — ADRA’s Surgery Reunited the Family

“A baby like that costs too much to raise.”
After hearing these cruel words about her son Krishna, who was born with a cleft lip and palate, his mother fled her home holding him in her arms.
She was saved from despair caused by discrimination and high medical costs by free surgery provided by ADRA’s medical team.
After the operation, the family was able to live together again with smiles.
【A Village’s New Beginning】Turning Decades of Uncertainty into Confidence

Hodadad Rahma, who lives in Herat Province in western Afghanistan, has spent his life in constant danger amid a harsh environment repeatedly struck by earthquakes and floods. In the massive earthquake of October 2023, more than 1,500 people were killed or injured. Despite his deep love for his hometown, he has long felt powerless in the face of the overwhelming forces of nature—floods and earthquakes that rise higher than a person’s height.

The turning point came with ADRA’s disaster risk reduction project.
He joined a village disaster prevention committee and received knowledge, equipment, and training. In 2025, when floodwaters threatened the village, their quick response prevented damage.
Hodadad said:
“This project completely changed our mindset. It gave us confidence that we can prepare for disasters, not just fear them.”
ADRA doesn’t just provide disaster relief. We help people build the resilience to protect their families—and we stay with them, every step of the way. Even as our busy lives and the constant flow of disaster and war news pull us away, ADRA remains on the ground, standing with people until their lives are restored.

How Your ¥1,000 Makes a Difference on the Ground

When monthly donations of ¥1,000 come together, they make support like this possible.
For example, if 100 ADRA Friends give regularly, we can provide trauma counseling to at least 30 people living in despair in humanitarian settings in Ukraine. Your support becomes something real—like the reassurance of having someone quietly stand beside you when you feel alone.
It can also help provide:
- A safe night’s sleep in an evacuation shelter
- Essential household appliances that support daily life in difficult displacement settings
- A warm meal that brings comfort and hope in the midst of uncertainty
It will be utilized to offer assistance where and when it is needed.

Your Care Gives Life Tomorrow
“We stay together and take care of one another. We have become family—the sisters we never had. We are no longer alone.”

Have you ever experienced having a friend there for you when life was hard?
ADRA Friend was inspired by Ginny, a girl who lost her family in the Haiti earthquake. In a shelter, she met a friend and promised each other, “Let’s support each other and get through this together.” Through that bond, she regained the strength to live.
Now, imagine if your friend were somewhere they couldn’t ask anyone for help, trembling with fear and uncertainty…
Through ADRA Friend, we stand in for you—offering companionship and support to each person experiencing loneliness or anxiety. With a monthly donation starting at just ¥1,000, you help build a reliable foundation to deliver timely support to the right place, when it is needed most.
Starting today, you can be the friend who lets someone know they are “not alone.”
